prices

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

We’ve tried to structure our pricing around giving everyone the best deal that we can. We don’t have a bunch of discounts that you have to qualify for — we just give everyone the best price that we can.

So if you’ve noticed some of our prices going up, please understand that it is just because our costs are going up. We’re doing all we can to get the best deals on things that we can.

The good news is that this won’t effect our 50%-off canvas sale, or the sketch books we’ve been selling at 50% off on our clearance table. The last price increase on those actually set in right before we opened, so the prices should be stable for a while longer.

Something else to keep in mind is that the sales tax will be going up twice this year — by 1% on April 1 to 9.25%, thanks to the recent state budget woes, and then by another 0.5% on July 1 to 9.75%, thanks to the passage of Measure R (which will fund transportation projects).

We don’t have anything to announce yet, but keep your eye out for some special sales before and after summer.

canvas by the case

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

You know how we have been selling canvas at 50% off since we opened? Don’t worry, we’re not about to stop – we decided that we could do even better. Canvas by the case. In addition to taking 50% off the manufacturer’s suggested retail price, we’ll chop off another 20% from that. (Watch out, I’m being tricky with math: that’s “only” 60% off.) Each case of canvas consists of either five or ten canvases depending on the size and type, so it’s like getting three to six canvases free. Like to work small? Get a case of ten of our 9 x 12″ Studio Canvas for $29.20, plus tax. Like to work big? Get a case of five of our 48 x 72″ Gallery Canvas for $278.00, plus tax. You just need to pay for your canvas up front, and we’ll add it to our next regular order.
