new: cradled birch panels from american easel

May 5th, 2012 by Jim Winstead

Cradled Birch Artist Panels from American Easel are an alternative to canvas that gives you a firm painting surface with none of the flexing or stretching.

The panels are made in Oregon with a smooth, solid wood cradle (frame around the back) for strength and rigidity and a top-quality birch face. Most sizes are available in both flat (7/8") and deep (1-5/8") profiles. Larger sizes include additional bracing.

You can use these panels unprimed, prime with gesso or another ground, or with Matte Medium or Clear Gesso so you can still see the grain of the panel (we have a sample portrait of Wonton done on a panel that was prepared with Matte Medium). We recommend priming both sides of larger panels to minimize the risk of warping.

We’ve priced these panels at up to 40% off the manufacturer’s list price. Download the current price list. And while supplies last, get a free 3" × 3" mini panel with the purchase of $10 or more of any acrylic or oil paint.
