QoR Watercolors Logo
The unique formulation of QoR Watercolors accentuates the luminosity and brilliance of pigments even after drying. QoR provides the subtlety, transparency and flow of a great watercolor, with colors that have as much vibrancy and fire as the best acrylic or oil paint.

QoR watercolors are made by Golden Artist Colors, also known for the Williamsburg Handmade Oil Colors.

Cold Press Ground

Cold Press Ground creates an absorbent, cool white surface with the appearance of rough handmade paper. A smoother finish can also be achieved by skimming with a wet palette knife during application. Ideal when a rough texture is desired for emphasizing dry brush techniques.

Lift Aid

A fluid medium for water color surfaces to improve the lifting of watercolors. Lift Aid may be applied to paper before painting or between washes.

Light Dimensional Ground

A white, lightweight paste that spreads like frosting, Light Dimensional Ground can be applied smooth and thinly, or built up to create ridges, peaks and other interesting textures. The extremely absorbent surface of Light Dimensional Ground allows washes to spread quickly, while accommodating fine lines and detail as well. Dropping color into lightly wetted areas creates beautiful blooms.

Masking Fluid

QoR Masking Fluid is a latex based medium for masking areas of paper prior to applying color washes. The consistency is perfect for masking finely detailed areas, and it removes easily once dry.

Mini Watercolor Set

The deep, rich, beautiful color of QoR with its exclusive Aquazol binder provides more pigment in every brushstroke, while retaining the best qualities of traditional watercolors. Strength, versatility, and now convenience and mobility are part of the Qor Story. The QoR Mini Watercolor Set houses 12 half-pan watercolors in a tin smaller than an index card. It fits perfectly in pocket or purse for urban sketching and plein air painting. This set includes cadmium yellow primrose, nickel azo yellow, transparent pyrrole orange, pyrrole red medium, quinacridone magenta, dioxazine purple, ultramarine blue, pthalo blue (green shade), sap green, Payne's gray, transparent brown oxide and burnt umber.

Modern Watercolors

QoR (pronounced core) watercolors feature an advanced archival, water-soluble binder, Aquazol, that supports greater pigment loading than traditional watercolor binders. This allows QoR watercolors to provide more pigment strength and vivid depth of color in every brushstroke, while retaining the best qualities of traditional watercolors. The binder is used within the conservation community for painting restoration, and is more flexible and less brittle than traditional watercolor binders, offering improved flexibility and adhesion. The vibrant, intense colors flow well, produce incredibly smooth transitions and stay brilliant even after they dry. They also have excellent resolubility in water and have great glazing qualities. Available in 11ml tubes.

Synthetic Ox Gall

A wetting agent that improves the flow of watercolors, 2-5 drops added to water makes paints easier to apply and blend when creating washes. Wetting paper with a water and Synthetic Ox Gal mixture assists in creating clean, uniform washes and improves wetting on hard sized papers.

Watercolor Ground

A fluid acrylic primer that creates a porous surface similar to hot press paper on many different materials, including canvas and panel, Watercolor Ground dries to an absorbent, lightfast and flexible surface that withstands repeated lifting and scrubbing. Suitable for a full range of watercolor techniques, including wash and staining effects, it can be used to return stained areas to an absorbent white surface.
