Gustave Sennelier opened the doors of the Maison Sennelier at 3 Quai Voltaire in 1887. This Parisian landmark faces the Louvre on the Left Bank, just around the corner from the École des Beaux Arts. Artists like Cézanne, Gauguin, Monet, Bonnard, Soutine, Picasso, Modigliani, Kandinsky, and Dali made this place a historic rendez-vous. A place where the most celebrated names could find the finest colors available for artists.
Sennelier’s expertise in colors and art materials is surpassed only by their passion for them. Sennelier has been a resource for artists since the era of the Impressionists, and that tradition continues today for all customers of the Maison Sennelier.

The Grand Oil Pastel was conceived through extensive artist input and is considered to be the most user-friendly size. Roughly eight times the size of the original oil pastel, it is large enough for layering yet small enough for detail work.

Oil Pastel Sets Sennelier
Created in the 1940's in collaboration with Picasso these creamy, lipstick-like pastels are rich in pigment, cover well and have outstanding opacity and light fastness. They may be thinned with turpentine and worked with a brush, are acid-free and can be applied to any surface. The 12-color set includes white, pale blue, lemon yellow, black, yellow ochre, burnt umber, cinnabar green yellow, green medium, mandarin, delft blue, permanent intense red and French ultramarine blue. The 24-color set includes all the colors in the 12-color set plus azure blue, reddish brown gray, gray green, yellow deep, ruby red, raw umber, brown madder, geranium lake light, pine green, celadon green, celestial blue and red brown. The 24-color landscape set contains white, gray green, yellow deep, Naples yellow, red deep, Venetian red, raw umber, burnt sienna, raw sienna, cinnabar green deep, cinnabar green yellow, pthalo green light, sap green, sap green light, mars black, delft blue, cinnabar yellow brown, violet ochre, mummy, pine green, sky blue, charcoal blue, light English red and chrome brown.

Oil Pastels Sennelier

Venice Turpentine Sennelier Warehouse Only
Pure natural balsam with the consistency of honey. Resin extracted from larch. Add as a plasticizer and gloss enhancing agent to oil colors, varnishes and mediums. Creates a jewel-like quality with a tough enamel-like surface. Use with care (maximum 5%), as excess will make the film more brittle. Recommended thinner: turpentine (up to 20%).
